Thyroid condition! advice please?

Hello!

I have an underactive thyroid. Diagnosed in June 2008.
In July 2009 after many tries with Thyroxine to get the levels right, it finally regulated, then, I fell pregnant!

Since I had my baby its all over the place. Im still in the process of trying to get the levels right.

Has anyone else had this? I have another blood test on Friday.

Its so frustrating. Im a healthy person. I eat healthy and exercise. But when the levels are wrong, my weight is so bad!

Thanks

Hashimoto's thyroid condition under control but always sick!!?

I was diagnosed a year ago with hypothyroid condition called Hashimoto’s, I take my thryroid medication everyday, and have my blood levels checked every 3 months. The Doc says my hormone levels are good now. However, ever since I was diagnosed with this, I catch every bug around. As soon as I get over a bad cold, a few days later I have an ear infection, then a couple of weeks later bronchitis, then a stomach flu and so on… I eat healthy and keep active (when I am not sick in bed). I keep good hygene and live in a healthy environment ( near the Alps!) but keep getting sick. Anyone out there with a similar problem? Is there anything I can do to strengthen my immune system or are people with this thyroid problem doomed to a crappy immune system? I am so embarrassed to always be sick.

I'm sick. Could this be a thyroid condition?

These are my symptoms

• Joint/muscle aches
• Always tired, even after just waking up
• Aches every morning
• Sluggish feeling, lack of motivation
• Difficulty concentrating and remembering things
• Swollen hands and feet
• weight gain without change of dietery habits
• craving sweets and carbs more than usual
• getting sick more often/ recurrent sinus infection
• takes longer to get better after being sick
• swollen stomach, even without eating
• dry brittle hair; falls out easy
• Difficult/impossible to lose weight
• Mood changes: depression, anxiety
• Sensitive to weather; always cold
• Inconsistent digestion; diarrhea & constipation
• full or sensitive feeling in the neck
• irritable
• Dry Skin
• eyes give me headaches
• vertical ridges on nails

My blood tests for thyroid came back as TSH= 2.22 and T4= 0.9
My doctor said that that was normal.
What’s wrong with me?

Additional Details
I’m 20 years old.
I gained about 40 lbs in the last year.
I was 175, now I’m about 215.
Over the summer I went on a b12 diet and went from 205 until I plateau’d at 190.
I’m a college student in FL.
My sink water often has a high concentration of chlorine, and my allergies have been acting up more since early october.
For years I’ve been having this tired feeling but over the past few months its been getting worse. Every afternoon I crash and cannot stay awake; sometimes, my 5-minute drive home from school seems almost impossible. The vertical ridges in my nails have been present for years, but the hair issues have been gradually developing over the past 6-8months. THe depression has kicked in a lot over the past month, probably due to the weight gain. I’ve had cold hands and feet as long as I can remember, but recently I’ve been getting really cold, especially when I sleep, and often have to use extra covers.

What type of thyroid condition is this, and is it serious?

My mom has thyroid problems and shes 99.99% sure i do too. I would believe the one she thinks i have is Hypothyroidism, but were not sure at all. I’m going to go get a blood test for it soon. I am 14 and was diagnosed with depression; so obviously i feel depressed, I have hairloss, my weight has stayed consistent with me for about three or four years but ive only grown about four inches, I have a really fast metabolism.. I heard feeling worthless is a symptom as well, i have that. Im constantly dozing off. I have fatigue and frequent headaches. I can’t seem to remember things. I have low body temperature regularly while everyone else is hot and they touch me and are always like "Whoa youre so cold!" My body always aches.. and I am nervous a lot of the time.
*Other medical information that might be helpful, I have iron deficiency anemia (Which my mom also has) and scoliosis. My mood changes incredibly easily and my PMS is horrible, I also have abnormal menstrual cycles (9 days at a time normally) and really heavy. Also either spread really far apart or frequently.
Thank you!
im also hungry a lot and sweat a little bit more than normal. i have difficulty concentrating and am nauseaus a lot, and kind of restless.

Will I End Up With A Thyroid Condition?

I am 15 and a girl and I am african american.Thyroid conditions run on my dad’s side of the family and some of them have wound up with goiters and everything.I am super scared. All my life,I have always had a weight problem.I weigh about 170 lbs and am 5"7.However,everyone says I look about 140 lbs.I have lost 10 lbs from not really doing anything,I just suddenly lost it and I haven’t gained it back.(I was 180 lbs and now I am 170 lbs.)I have nice shoulder(okay,it’s past my shoulder) length hair and it is permed and I have not noticed any significant hair loss. But I am scared that I will end up losing all of my hair to a thyroid condition in the future.I show a lot of symptoms of it.I know all of you are going to say, just go get tested for it.Is there anything I can do to prevent this? What can I do?If I discover it early, will I not lose my hair?

I am terrified of losing my hair.It took years for it to reach this length.I already have naturally fine hair and I can’t afford to lose any.I have cried thinking about a possible thyroid condition taking this from me.I am almost to break back down in tears just thinking about it.What should I do?Is there a great chance that I will get it?

Help for dog with low-thyroid condition.?

My 9 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback was recently diagnosed with low-thyroid. She was lethargic, had gained weight, not wanting to get up or eat her regular meals. The Vet did lab work and her T-levels were 4 and 6.9. "Levothyroxine" was prescribed: 600mcg twice a day but I just felt that was too much and have been giving her 400mcg ‘bid’ instead. Now, on the 11th day, she has perked up just a little but still just isn’t "right". She is also arthritic in her hips and has been taking a combo of "Traumeel" and "Zeel" (1 tablet each, 2 times a day). I have been taking her for very short walks to help strengthen her leg/thigh muscles as well but she doesn’t like the cold weather and isn’t eager to walk much.
I am searching for anecdotal observations and suggestions for her condition.
PLEASE HELP!!
Thank you ver much!
Dianne
Using the calculation I found on the internet, 10# of dog’s weight x 100mcg and the fact that she was at 91# at the time, I felt that 1200mg was too much. She looks like she has lost a few pounds since beginning the treatment.
Historically, she has been fed "Beneful" with occasional attempts at Iams, and other high-end brands of kibble. She had injured her gum on a "jerky" type treat a neighbor gave her and wouldn’t eat dry food so I began giving her "Pedigree" canned supplemented with a homemade mixture of mostly rice & lentils with a few black beans and stewed chicken. She is only eating about 1 1/2 cups of this per day plus a breakfast piece of whole grain toast with olive oil.
OK, here’s more: My Emma doesn’t seem to have much of an appetite anymore and I have to cajole her to go out to P & P (about every 12 hours). She is hesitant to try to jump off the bed our couch and seems content to just stay in a prone position. She’d had a lump on her inner thigh/belly area that fre over 2 years from walnut size to about lime size that has disappeared in the last month. The Vet had giadnosed it as a "fatty tumor" but it was never aspirated to rule out anything else. My Black Lab crossed the Rainbow Bridge last July from PLE. I have rescued dogs & cats for many years and I am now down to one dog and one cat; I’m feeling depressed and so worried about my dog and I’m afraid she can sense my despair. I massage her achy right shoulder & hips and talk to her in "dog-speak" to encourage her. To make matters worse, I’ll be out of town for a week and I’m worried something awful will happen although loving "dog-neighbors" will pet-sit while I’m gone.
It’s now 8pm and Emma did get off the couch to go outside. She’s wobbly on and keeping her her back feet close together. I guess, after spending 12 hours lying on the couch and then getting up would (and does) make it difficult for me to walk too. I have severe arthritis and a bad hip and I hobble around for a while when I get out of bed or stand up after sitting for a long time. She managed to get up the 5 steps to go out but "bunny hops". She peed but no poop but she hadn;t eaten her breakfast so perhaps there wasn’t anything to evacuate. I gave her a nice slow shoulder massage when she sat down instead of coming straight in, then she got up and came inside and ate her dinner and has now hopped up on the bed.
Also, just a FYI: Our Vet specializes in cats and took over the practice from another Vet several years ago. Could she be missing something? She knows Emma very well and is prone to homeopathic treatment vs. "standard" Rymadyl, etc. type treatments.

Thyroid/Adrenal condition?

I had brain surgery when I was 12(currently 20) Prior to the surgery I was skinny, post surgery I was overweight, and still am. The issue is that m tumor was on the pituitary gland and when the tumor was removed it crashed my Thyroid hormones as well as Cortisol levels. Now, I was put on 20mg in morn 10mg night for Cortef and the dosage has never changed, is that enough for me? I hear that waking up repeatedly at night may be a sign of struggling adrenals. And then the Thyroid drug i’m on (Synthroid) 100mcg once daily. I’ve recently read only takes care of T4 levels and the rest has to be picked up by converting T4 and that stresses the adrenals even more. I’m 6’1" and 290lb if that would matter on doasge, any thoughts? suggestions?

Do I have a thyroid condition?

So, my older sister has a thyroid condition (hypothyroidism), and sinse it is genetic, I was recently tested for it, and I didn’t have it.

I did some research on the disease and I have almost all of the symptoms of it! (ex: light periods, hair falling out, get cold easily, constipation, really thin and flimsy finger nails)

oh and I’m a 15 year old girl

even though my blood work showed negative, is there a chance I could still have this disease? what should I do, should I get tested again?
