Colon Cleanse ?

Okay, so I’m thinking about doing this to help with gas and other intestinal problems, but I’m reading descriptions about it, but they all seem like a fancy laxative to me. Are they really effective, or are they just laxatives with fancy labeling?
Also, I’m curious about how this stuff works with women when they’re on their cycle. Most of them are about a month long, so it would inevitably intercede with my cycle and I’m wondering how the two go together (if you get my drift).
If this doesn’t make any sense just drop me a line, but any suggestions or help here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    The colon knows how to do its job. Doing a colon cleansing can hurt the process of shedding nutrients and absorbing minerals and vitamins. The colon might not work as well if this process is interfered with.

    If the equipment that is used to flush the colon is not clean then a bacterial infection could develop.

    Doing a colon cleansing could cause the body to absorb too much water. This could possibly cause a chemical imbalance which would result in feelings of nausea, vomiting, heart failure and fluid in the lungs. The colon wall could also break which is fatal.

    Supplements can be dangerous because most are not regulated by the Food and Drug Administration. Manufacturers could make health claims that are not supported by evidence so it probably is a waste of money. The user just does not know what they are getting.

    Taking laxatives or colon cleansing pill can prevent the body from doing its job because then the colon relies on the pill to do it and it will not empty normally. Some pills contain senna which is harsh and can irritate the lower digestive tract which could lead to diarrhea and create a mineral imbalance in the body.

    Although doctors may recommend colon cleansing in preparation for a medical examination of the colon, most don’t recommend colon cleansing for better health or to prevent disease. This is because:

    It’s unnecessary. Your colon doesn’t require enemas or special diets or pills to eliminate waste material and bacteria. It does this naturally on its own.
    It may be harmful. Your colon absorbs water and sodium to maintain your body’s fluid and electrolyte balance. Some colon-cleansing programs disrupt this balance, causing dehydration and salt depletion. Long-term or excessive cleansing programs can lead to problems such as anemia, malnutrition and heart failure.
    If constipation is your concern, you can help prevent constipation without colon cleansing. Drink plenty of water and eat a diet rich in fiber. The Institute of Medicine offers these daily fiber recommendations:

    38 grams for men and 25 grams for women 50 and younger
    30 grams for men and 21 grams for women 51 and older

    Despite the skeptics and what they may think, some people Do need colon cleanses.This day and age is filled with a toxic environment and toxic food

    I however would not suggest do a colon cleanse system.You never know how potent those herbs really are in the cleanses.

    I say, if you are serious, go get a colonics done.It will be more effective.
