I have genetically high cholesterol. it’s near 300 I think. I’ve dropped soda, fast food, fried food, beef, ham, dessert, and candy and snack food altogether from my diet but my cholesterol levels only dropped 10 points! I work out almost everyday and bike to work. I should probably start medication but I’ve heard about the damage that can cause and I’m not ready to get on to any hard meds. I’m only 22! Any thoughts, guys? I’d appreciate some help.
I checked my cholesterol at my local drug store & it was low ,so low that it almost wasnt reading but still,i’ve had breathing problems & heart palpertations ,what does this mean? I changed my diet & exercise regularly by the way. =)
Well the pharmacist said it was fantastic ,so i assume she knew what she was doing but hey ,im starting to feel better ,i just wanna start back enjoying fast food every once and a while without having to worry, thats all =\ lol
I went to my doctors a week ago and he read back my bloodwork and everything was fine. Cholesterol Levels were good.
So I don’t have any health problems but it did make me curious on what people with high cholesterol should watch out for. For instance, if a person needs to eat low cholesterol foods what foods would they opt for and what milligrams or daily values should they look for when they look at food labels?
Sorry if this sounds bizarre, I just wanted to know for my own knowledge.
I was wondering, when it says "cholesterol" on a nutrition label, is it referring to HDL or LDL? For example, one label says the amount per serving is less than 5 mg, and is 1% daily value. Is that talking about good or bad cholesterol or both or what? Thanks!
mu cholesterol was just checked by chance and my bad cholesterol levels and the sugary ones are 3times higher than normal……………….
This will be my 3rd time testing tomorrow. I have quit smoking, changed my diet, lost 20p to be in normal BMI and run 20 miles a week. I also have excellent BP 120/68. I’m 39yr old female with high cholesterol that runs on my Father’s side with no family history of cardiac issues. Last time I was tested it was still high after losing weight and everything. Seems I won the genetic lottery.
There’s nothing else I can do short of going Vegan which isn’t happening.
Overall was 273 with LDL 178, HDL 81, and TRY 72. If it’s still high after testing tomorrow do I really need to go on Statins? I’d be more willing to go on them if my HDL was low so I feel conflicted. I’d like opinions from qualified people please. Thank you.
how do you determine the level for good and bad cholesterol?
are the levels combined to get your total cholesterol (good cholesterol and bad cholesterol)
