For a healthy diet, you need to be eating small to medium meals regularly. 4 or even 5 times a day. Each meal (apart from breakfast which should preferably be fibre rich), should contain a balanced ammount of carbohydrates for energy, (from potatoes, rice and pasta, etc) protien (from fish, chicken, occassional red meat is fine, soya is good too) and plenty of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants (simple fresh fruit and veg). Eat like this and make sure you are well hydrated (fruit juice is as good as water, any fluid counts, but some fluids have negative effects too, such as alcohol or caffiene rich drinks.)
You can have a wide range of healthy meals with this, from Thai, Chinese, Italian, British, Indian, etc. Just make sure each meal contains balanced ammounts of these three. On the bright side too, fresh veg and rice and pasta is a lot cheaper than crappy junk food!
This doesn’t mean you cant have chocolate or pizza/takeaway/etc, just save them as very occassional treats.
Just simply low carb, watch the salt intake, don’t eat fatty foods (if you do, limit it to only a couple times a week), and the most important thing: exercise.
Small meals more often through the day. Cut out over processed foods. Cut out sugar. Drink plenty of water. Drink soy milk or coconut milk. Eat eggs and mixed vegetables for breakfast, Eat berries and nuts.
veggies and meat. try cutting out any carbs. tofu is ok because of it being high in protein. and exercise, walking for half an hour to an hour every morning or evening is a good start and maybe go dancing with some girlfriends. its fun and you lose a lot of weight doing it.
Ignore carb boy. Complex slow release carbohydrates are good if you are less active. Fruit as a snack, lots of lean turkey and fish as protein is energy aswell as a building block. And cut back on the beer. Got loads of friends on diets but drinking twenty pints a week and wondering why not losing weight. If you do physical work glucosamine, garlis capsules and vit c are good supplements. And by the by, carbs dont make you fat people. Only you wont burn fat while you have an abundance of carbs in your system.
Okay, so I saw someone say a Vegan diet is the best way.
Vegans are awesome, but I don’t recommend going Vegan. First of all, you wouldn’t be doing it for the right reasons. I am a vegetarian because I believe that the way animals are treated and/or killed for slaughter is wrong. I have friends who are vegetarians because they want to lose wait. I don’t believe that is right.
First of all, becoming vegetarian does not make you lose wait if you are a vegetarian the right way. Second of all, do it for the right reason. I frown upon weight-loss-seeking "vegetarians".
What I would recommend it to start participating in activities that require movement (yoga, dance, skating, soccer, you get it…). These activities keep you exercised and BUSY. Notice that I say BUSY in capital letters.
I do this because when I am bored or have nothing to do, I eat. When I have somewhere I need to be, I only eat when I am hungry. Here are some foods I would recommend for you for a healthy diet (these just kind of came to mind in the two seconds more that I let myself spare wasting my life answering this question- it’s taken long enough) :
Yogurt and granola (or wheat germ which is AMAZING but nobody knows ahah).
LOTS OF FRUITS AND VEGGIES.
LOTS OF HEALTHY SALADS WITH NUTS AND VEGGIES IN THEM.
Pasta dishes are great as long as you make a healthy topping and go easy with proportions.
You can have some nice chicken dishes (although I don’t recommend this- you will understand if you research how they kill animals =]…)
Fruit salad!! Yummy yummy.
Uhmm who knows? Anything else you like to eat. Stay away from packaged shit. And remember that the amount of food you eat doesn’t matter… it’s WHAT you eat.
Look up some healthy food options.
And good luck! =]
Exactly the same for any age.
