    Good cholesterol, or HDL (high density lipoprotein) is the form that takes fat from the blood vessels back to the liver for metabolism. It has a very important protective action.

    There is no food known yet, that helps build more HDL. Things that you can do are 1) exercise – that builds up HDL, 2) stop drinking alcohol, 3) start using prescription niacin, or 4) use Crestor medication which helps bring up good HDL, and lower bad LDL.

    The exercise part is the hardest. There are a whole lot of things you can do from walking, to running, to weight machines. Just get more active.
