    Licorice : Is an excellent general thyroid herb for the glandular system and adrenals. It is considered a medium term energy builder and glandular balancer. May need to be taken for a couple of weeks at a time. *Do Not Use Licorice If You Suffer from High Blood Pressure.

    Saw Palmetto : Although best known as a tonic for the prostate, Saw Palmetto is also useful as a thyroid herb and long term glandular builder so should be taken for extended period of time.

    Natural Thyroid Health Recommendations;
    1. Avoid fluoride (including that found in toothpaste and water) an chlorine (also found in tap water). Chlorine, fluoride and iodine are chemically related. Chlorine and fluoride block iodine receptors in the thyroid gland, resulting in reduced iodine reducing hormone production and finally hypothyroidism. Use a fluoride free toothpaste.

    2. Avoid stimulants such as caffeine and alcohol. These upset the glandular system resulting in further imbalance.
    3 Eat a whole food diet that consists of 75% raw fruits and vegetables. With whole grains, seeds, nuts, brown rice, legumes and millet. You may include natural whole food supplements but you must eat as well! Supplement with super greens foods.

    4. Avoid "low energy foods" such as sugar, fried foods, saturated fats, meat, alcohol, caffeine and processed foods. Try a natural acid alkaline program or detoxification supplement.

    5. Use a natural thyroid supplement with herbs that support thyroid function and nutrition. Thyroid Help is not a drug, medication or hormone, it is a natural dietary supplement.

    Your thyroid functions less as you age. However I have read in a holistic health book to gently beat the top of your chest, your sternum with your fist mimicking a heart beat, and also gently massage your lower neck area. These two are noted to promote the best use of what you actually use.

    I have tried just about every thyroid supplement in the health food store…with no good results. I also did certain yoga positions (shoulder stands) which are supposed to stimulate the thyroid. The only thing that helps me is prescription medication… synthroid.

    Bladderwrack Leaves
    you can awaken your thyroid with iodine-rich marine bladderwrack. Iodine stimulates the thyroid gland, which is responsible for producing hormones that regulate metabolic functions.

  • I found the best method of treatment for me was natural and holistic. It is the use of Armour thyroid. The oldst thyroid medication that is still around. It used to be adjusted by how one felt. Today it is adjusted by free t3 and free t3, with a few doctors adjusting it by body temp.

    I started out on Levoxyl. It did nothing for my symptoms at all. I eventually added Cytomel to the Levoxyl and it helped a lot, but I wanted more. I switched to Armour over 4 years ago and I’m almost symptom free. Links on Armour below

    Some people will tell you to take kelp, but that only works to correct the condition if the thyroid problem developed because of iodine deficiency. Taking it and not knowing if you need it can make you become hyper and cause your heart to race. I do take a small amount of kelp, but only after I got the thyroid regulated and only because I was iodine deficient.
