Thyroid question…………………………………………………….?

I think I have a slow acting thyroid, how do I make it better without medication? I don’t want to have to take meds. for it, is there a natural way to get it back to normal? I’m tired all the time, I can’t lose weight, I’m depressed, and I have irregular periods. I know these are all symptoms of that. All suggestions are appreciated.

Hi. The only way to treat a low thyroid is with medication. Trust me, nobody wants to take medication everyday, but with this condition, you pretty much have to or you will continue to feel bad. Over time, if left untreated, it will also damage your body. I was diagnosed a year ago with low thyroid ( Hypothyroidism ), and nobody hates taking medication more then me, but if i didn’t take it everyday, i would feel so bad i couldn’t function. This disease is nothing to mess around with. It will continue to get worse without medicine. I know that’s not the answer you want to hear, but it’s the truth. Any doctor will tell you the same thing. Good luck, hope you feel better soon 🙂

I have been taking synthroid since I was 27 yrs old for an underactive thyroid. I was quite sick before I started taking it and in 31 years I’ve never had another problem. Eltroxin, Synthroid or whatever medication they put you on, raises you to a normal thyroxine level. There are no side effects of complications involved in taking this drug. I get blood work done once a year to make sure my levels are ok, given another 12 month prescription and that’s it for another year. There’s nothing else you can take that will make you feel better and if you don’t get it under control, your levels could continue to drop.

Edit: I’d be checking with your doctor before you start taking kelp! My specialist told me I definitely was NOT to take it and I confirmed that with my pharmacist.
