Oats contain a specific type of fiber known as beta-glucan. The fiber in oats helps to remove cholesterol from the digestive system that would otherwise end up in the bloodstream.
Artichokes lower cholesterol and helps to protect against liver disease.
Broccoli and cabbage contain phytonutrients. Phytonutrients work as antioxidants to disarm free radicals before they can damage DNA, cell membranes and fat-containing molecules such as cholesterol.
Cinnamon reduces cholesterol levels, lowering bad cholesterol while leaving good cholesterol the same.
Studies have shown that eggplant is effective in the treatment of high blood cholesterol, and in the control of cholesterol.
Fresh red grapefruit as part of a diet could be beneficial for persons with high cholesterol.
Grapes also contain another compound called pterostilbene , a powerful antioxidant that is already known to fight cancer and may also help lower cholesterol.
Guavas are beneficial in reducing cholesterol and protecting the heart.
