Thyroid/Hashimoto's?
My mom is a 45 year old women who has hashimoto’s thyroid disease. The doctors found a nodule with undefined boarders. She is in so much pain and her neck feels very full her left side. During this she has been unsuccessful finding a good doctor that understands what she is going through. Now she has developed another thyroid nodule on the other side of her neck. Her neck is very tender to touch as well. She is very weak and tired. What do you think is going on? What have you done to get control your hashmotos? Do you know anyone who has hashi’s? Anybody have their thyroid removed? Any Info you can give me will be helpful, Thanks so much in advance.
You say that your mom has Hashimoto’s thyroid disease. So, is she treated for that?
Synthroid or any other natural/artificial hormone replacement is the treatment.
You should consider going to another doctor and asking for a second opinion as some doctors are very misinformed and not knowledgeable about thyroid conditions.
Your mom should have the following blood tests: TSH, FT4, FT3 and most importantly anti-thyroid antibodies.
Only they can reveal if you have a problem with your thyroid, like Hashimoto’s thyroiditis.
Normal TSH is 0.3-3. (Some doctors still use the out-dated reference range of 0.5-5.5)
