  • I do not have a diagnosed thyroid problem, but do have a growth on my thyroid gland. I developed gestational diabetes during my pregnancy and have been closely monitored by my endocrinologist.

She said that sometimes the glands in our endocrine system have all been effected by a childhood disease such as measles and can "misbehave" during pregnancy. These glands would also include the ovaries (have you been checked for ovarian cysts? – I have those also).

I got pregnant very easily, but as everyone will tell you, make sure you are monitored by all your doctors and seek their help. Also make sure you keep a close eye on your blood sugar levels.

Your medication will need to be adjusted but in no was will it effect your chances of conceiving.

I have a hypo-active thyroid myself. 😀 I’m also 21 weeks along- it won’t affect you getting pregnant in the least. However, because of having a thyroid condition, your pregnancy may be affected because of IT. 🙁

    Good luck!

As long as you are being treated for your thyroid condition then you shouldn’t have any trouble conceiving. If things aren’t happening for you then you might need to adjust your medication. Once you become pregnant your doctor will monitor your levels to make sure that your body is adjusting to the pregnancy. I’m currently 36 weeks along and have hypothyroidism. I wasn’t getting pregnant for the longest time as my condition had not yet been diagnosed. Once treated I got pregnant soon after. Good luck.
