High thyroid level?

My doctor told me I have a high thyroid level. All I want to do is sleep. I’m having a scan on the 12th and 13th to see what is wrong. My question is: Has anyone had their hyperthyroidism treated? If so, do you have more energy or are you still tired? I’d love to hear your story. Thanks!

Very treatable. I have used synthroid for a mild thyroid condition. Be patient, it takes your body a while to get back in sync. Yes you will see a change in your energy, mood, sleep, weight, skin & hair too sometimes. The thyroid is an important regulator, so you need to be consistent with your meds, visit your doctor regularly and have your levels checked often. Untreated thyroid conditions can have very serious physical consequences. Glad you are getting this taken care of. Good luck.

  • Actually I had a hyperthyroid in my late teens but I was always wired and I lost a lot of weight since your metabolism is working so fast. I’ve heard hypothyroid would make you tired and sleepy.
Well I got mine treated and I’m just fine now apparently you can treat hyper.. but hypo… you would have to take a pill a day for the rest of your life. Hope this helps.

High thyroid hormone levels might indicate hyperthyroidism which can be treated with medicine to suppress it or by means of radioactive iodine treatment. High levels can also be seen in thyroiditis–an inflammation of thyroid due to various causes. You need thorough evaluation, preferably by an endocrinologist, since different conditions warrant different treatment approaches.
