How do you know if I have a thyroid condition?

I eat 1200-1400 calories a day. I workout for about 60-90 mintues 4 to 5 days a week. I drink about 6 to 8 glasses of a water a day. I have not lost any weight. I am currently 5ft 6 and 133lbs. I need to lose 5lbs. I have trying this same diet for months. I eat fiber, protein, fruits and vegetables. Please let me know if I should get my thyroid checked out. I think I am out of options.

  • Hi Debra. If your only symptom is that you can’t lose any weight, you probably don’t have a thyroid problem. A lot of people have problems losing weight. Symptoms of a thyroid problem include, fatigue, joint pain, dry skin, brittle hair and nails, hair loss, constipation, memory loss, digestion problems, feeling cold all the time, etc. Usually you will not feel well if your thyroid is off. If it would put your mind at ease, then i would say get it checked. It’s a simple blood test to find out if that is the problem. I hope you don’t have a problem with your thyroid, it can be difficult to treat, and it makes you feel awful. Best of luck to you 🙂
