What are natural remedies I can take to soften stool?

I have been having back pain so I went to the doctor and got an x-ray, they said I had a ton of stool in me and that it could be dangerous and told me to take a laxative. However, I’d feel most comfortable doing it a natural way. What foods should I avoid and what foods should I eat?

    Go to the health food store and buy some Psyllium husks. Take about 2 teaspoons of that and then drink at least a quart of water. Continue drinking water and that will help you greatly. That is a good thing to do each day.

    To get an immediate result, do the Salt Water Flush.

    The Saltwater Flush provides an internal bath for the body, drawing out toxins as it cleanses the entire intestinal tract. Remember, it can do no harm at any time. The digestive tract needs a good washing, but do it the natural way – the saltwater way.

    How you do it:

    2 level teaspoons unrefined mineral salt (rounded for the Canadian quart)
    1 quart lukewarm water

    Put salt in quart jar. For best results, use unrefined mineral salt, not ordinary iodized salt. Add water to jar and stir. Drink the entire quart of salt and water first thing in the morning. This must be taken on an empty stomach. A straw makes it easier to drink.

    The salt and water will not separate but will stay intact and quickly and thoroughly wash the entire tract in several hours. Multiple eliminations will likely occur. The saltwater has the same specific gravity as the blood, hence the kidneys cannot pick up the water and the blood cannot pick up the salt. This may be taken as often as needed for proper washing of the entire digestive system. Use it on an empty stomach whenever you need help with elimination.

    After drinking the saltwater, lie on your right side for 30 minutes. After the 30 minutes, you are free to get up and go about your duties.

    You should have an elimination in 1 to 2 hours, though everyone is a little different. Be careful not to pass gas, except on the toilet, since it may be liquid coming through.

    The exit of the stomach into the small intestines is on the lower right hand side of the stomach. When you drink, the saltwater goes to the bottom of the stomach, below the opening. To get the saltwater into the small intestine, you need to tip the stomach like a teapot so the saltwater flows out. That’s why you lie on your right side.

    Once the saltwater is in the small intestines, the muscle contractions will carry it down the rest of the way. In about an hour you should be able to massage the left hand side of your lower abdomen and hear liquids gurgling. These are liquids that have flowed into the large intestines almost ready for evacuation.

    Salt has been used throughout the ages as a preservative and to draw out poisons. Salt will not do harm when used this way and will sterilize and make it possible for the body to repair itself. When you have a wound on your arm that gets infected, soaking the arm in saltwater draws out poisons. If you have damaged the intestinal tract with fissures or diverticula (small pouches in colon), the salt will cleanse in a similar way.

    EDIT: Yikes! "the flush doesn’t work? The specific gravity is not as indicated?" What salt was used to determine the specific gravity issue? Use only a good sea salt because it is loaded with electrolytes. Anyone that says this doesn’t work is IGNORANT. I’d absolutely love to see that person do the flush and then deprive them of a toilet and see what happens. lol. The proof is in the results, not some stupid calculation that cannot possibly know the specifics of any particular salt! There are a lot of want-a-be intellectuals here that are pseudo book learned, rote indoctrinated genetic trash cans that have very little credibility. Do what works, not what these people think that have no experience with real health and an agenda to protect.

    aloe vera gel caps work really well and fast……….take a couple , should poop in less than 24 hours,
    you have to eat 35 grams of fiber per day, and drink at least 2 quarts a day of water

    if you dont poop soon, you are going to have to see a doctor to help you get it out.

    What did they really say? I don’t believe you are making an exact quote there. However …

    Follow your doctors advice, you don’t want to be going back time and again. When you’re sorted start to eat more fruit and veg and drink water properly.

    I’d be very cautious about following Mr "herbivores don’t produce hydrochloric acid" advice. The density of blood is generally given as 1.062, the density of sea water is about 1.020 so to drink salt water of the same density of your blood (as he has just advised) you would need to make up a mix containing about 3x the salt of sea water. That’s about 1kg/gallon. If you swallow this much salt you WILL die.

    The rest of his advice is totally nonsense too. The only reason you will purge swallowing salt water is because it’s a poison and your body needs to get rid of it as soon as possible. The water and salt will be adsorbed by your body and you will be taking the risk of high blood pressure, heart failure, kidney failure.

    Follow your doctor’s advice. Then modify your diet.

    eat natural foods, avoid white flour. take a magnesium supplement at night, for the first few days it will be like a laxative but after your body gets used to it it will just make your regular. it will help you sleep too. and drink enough water.
