What are the best natural remedies for depression?
I have been suffering with depression for about 7 years, i finally got put on some medication, i am only 20 years old ..but i have lost my insurance and cant afford my antidepressants .. I would like to find a natural way to reduce my depression symptoms. I take digoxin (for my heart problems (sinus tachrycardia) ) and i take meds for my low thyroid and birth control) So i cant take any herbs that will interfere with these meds.. Any suggestions? I take a multivitamin, biotin, vitamin c, and a couple other vitamins (not everyday) .. I have read about St. John’s wort? can u buy that at any vitamin store? i also heard it can not be good combined with my digoxin or have side effects to my birth control.. so what u think?
It has been researched and shown that diet and exercise can provide excellent relief from depression. Medication just masks the problem and does not fix it. I can say this from both a clinical and a personal perspective.

Poor one! Is your depression caused by physically reason? I heard cases about hormones imbalance and cause depression. For me i think you should try out new things! Like go somewhere you’ve never been, baking. Walk out from your house! I tried and I felt so much better already 🙂
5-htp is the molecule between tryptophan and serratonin. Serratonin quiets the brain. A health food store should carry it.Take 2-4 caps a day and then tapper down to desired effect if it works for you.
Some people get good results with St. John’s Wort, although it didn’t work for me.
I fight depression by drinking coffee (not too much), avoiding alcohol, getting enough rest but not oversleeping, and avoiding unpleasant people. I don’t drink soda, especially cola, which is far worse than coffee. I keep sugar intake low, and completely avoid chocolate. Depressive people should NEVER eat chocolate, and I speak from experience and research.
Exercise never worked for me, but it works for a lot of people. Best of luck.
